Project
Notts County FC Water Usage
Commercial

Project Overview
Notts County FC enlisted the LeakNet Gen2 and LeakNet LP Data Logger solutions to address a suspected major leak within their stadium. Within days of installation, the system uncovered multiple water waste issues—ranging from small-scale leaks in urinals to a significant 21,000-litre-per-day loss from tank overflows. The identification and repair of these leaks resulted in savings totalling £94,000 annually, alongside a £57,000 rebate from the water supplier.
Connectivity Solution
The LeakNet system and its data loggers were deployed without the need for extensive cabling. This straightforward installation allowed for continuous remote monitoring of various water consumption points in the stadium, speeding up the identification of leaks.
App Functionality
- Real-Time Data: The FlowReporter App provided instant access to consumption trends, alerting stadium facilities managers to abnormal usage.
- Compartmentalised Tracking: By segmenting water usage in different sections of the stadium, the app pinpointed the exact location of leaks, enabling rapid response.
- Historical Insights: The platform stored data for detailed analysis, proving invaluable in negotiations for rebates and demonstrating where future improvements could be made.
Damage Minimisation
With the system’s early detection capabilities, the club avoided more significant structural or utility costs. Identifying leaks quickly reduced the chance of further damage to pipes, fixtures, or facilities.
Environmental Impact
By repairing leaks and optimising water use, the stadium substantially reduced water waste – conserving thousands of litres per day, lowering their overall environmental footprint, and exemplifying responsible resource management.
Client Benefits
- Cost Savings: The £94,000 annual reduction in water bills and the £57,000 rebate paid for the LeakNet installation many times over.
- Fast ROI: Repairs such as replacing faulty ballcocks delivered a two-month payback period.
- Peace of Mind: Ongoing monitoring helps prevent unexpected surges in water consumption, fostering proactive maintenance and budget stability.
